Huckins Yachts - Customer Case Study

Huckins Yachts, a builder of classic semi-custom boats, wanted to launch its first production vessel while preserving the brand’s iconic look and adding modern propulsion flexibility. The challenge was to combine traditional Huckins styling with efficient, quiet performance options for hybrid, diesel, and electric cruising.

Cummins helped power the Huckins 38 Sportsman Hybrid with twin QSB 6.7L diesel engines integrated with a joystick control system for precise maneuvering, alongside Elco electric motors and battery support. The result is a versatile yacht that can cruise silently at 7 mph in electric mode, reach 39 mph on diesel power, and recharge batteries through the engines, generator, or shore power—delivering a modern, fuel-efficient boat with strong performance and dockside control.
