Hope Services, a marine vessel builder, needed a reliable, proven propulsion package for its push boats serving Higman Barge Lines. The project centered on a new 98-foot towboat, Orange, built with a 34-foot beam and designed for practical operation, comfortable accommodations, and a well-laid-out wheelhouse.

Cummins supplied a pair of Tier 2 mechanical KTA38-M1 marine diesel engines, each rated at 1,000 horsepower, giving the vessel strong pushing power for Higman’s growing fleet. The result was a larger, modernized push boat that continued Hope Services’ long run of Cummins-powered vessels and delivered a total of 2,000 horsepower for dependable marine service.
