A Cummins Case Study
HEZ Power Station in Kurri Kurri, NSW, needed a reliable peaking power solution to support the Australian grid during periods of high demand and outages, while also meeting strict environmental and site-development requirements. Cummins was selected for its proven experience designing and building low-emissions diesel-fired power stations, using Cummins QSK60 generator sets with SCR technology.
Cummins delivered a 26 MW unmanned peaking plant with 16 generator sets, transformers, sound-attenuated buildings, and SMS-based startup capability. The solution achieved more than 98% NOx emissions reduction, met EPA requirements, and limited noise to 65 dBA at the boundary fence, while Cummins also took on long-term operations and maintenance under a five-year contract.
