Guangzhou Mangtong Shipbuilding and Shipping Co - Customer Case Study

Guangzhou Mangtong Shipbuilding and Shipping Co. needed reliable propulsion and onboard power for an 83.6 x 22-meter construction and accommodation vessel designed to support marine construction work and house up to 200 people. To meet the demands of the ship’s cranes, thrusters, stabilizers, accommodation block, and working deck, the company selected Cummins marine power equipment, including main engines and generator sets.

Cummins supplied two QSK60-M main engines and three KTA38-DM-powered 590 kW generator sets for the vessel. The engines drive fixed-pitch propellers through Twin Disc gears, while the generators provide electrical power for ship systems and construction equipment. The result is a highly capable workboat with strong onboard power, safe maneuvering features, and accommodation for large crews; one sister ship had already been delivered to Mexico, with another nearing completion.
