Greater Cairo Water Authority Relies on G-Drive Engines in Flood Prone Areas

Greater Cairo Water Company, working with Cummins, needed a reliable way to power mobile water pumps in flood-prone areas around Cairo, Egypt. Their challenge was to prepare for flash flooding emergencies that could threaten homes and infrastructure, while ensuring the pumping units could be deployed quickly when heavy rains were forecast.

Cummins supplied G-Drive 6CTA8.3-G2 engines for four mobile response units mounted on trucks, giving the water authority efficient, high-performance diesel power with a 20% safety margin over expected needs. The solution passed rigorous testing and was put on standby for rapid deployment, helping Greater Cairo Water Company respond more effectively to flooding; the project’s success has also led to plans for additional mobile pump installations in other regions.
