A Cummins Case Study
GMG International Shipbuilding & Trading Co. Ltd. needed reliable, high-capacity power systems for a complex new 69.5-by-38-meter lift boat being built for offshore work in Southern China. The vessel required dependable onboard electrical generation to support self-elevating operations, propulsion, cranes, thrusters, accommodation, and emergency backup, making Cummins a key technology partner for the project.
Cummins supplied four KTA50-DM1-powered generator sets, each producing 1000 kW, to provide the electrical power needed for jack-up operations and other ship systems, along with a KTA19-powered 400 kW emergency generator set. The result was a highly capable lift boat with support for up to 1,400 tons of transport capacity, 150-person accommodation, six-knot propulsion, and heavy-duty lifting and deck operations, all backed by Cummins power solutions.
