Gentec Energy PLC, working with The Tower Group and Tower Power Utility Ltd in Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria, needed a dependable 24x7 power source for aluminum rolling operations in a country with highly unreliable grid electricity and frequent outages. To address the challenge, they chose Cummins Power Generation to design and support a turnkey prime power solution using natural gas generator sets.

Cummins Power Generation implemented an 11,000 kVA (8.75 MW) island-mode station built around five C1750 N5C natural gas generator sets, each rated at 2,200 kVA (1.75 MW) and equipped with QSV91 Cummins engines and PowerCommand® controls. The project delivered continuous, trouble-free operation, with Gentec reporting 19 months of uninterrupted performance and more than 52,000 operating hours, while also highlighting Cummins’ responsiveness and support.
