G Smyth Boats Ltd - Customer Case Study

G Smyth Boats Ltd, working with fishermen Richard Hards and George Jacks of Pecheurs Eccosse Limited, needed to build a high-quality, stable, and efficient new inshore fishing vessel that could deliver more fishing power, cargo capacity, and deck functionality than its compact length might suggest. The project used Cummins QSL9 marine diesel engines as part of the propulsion and power system for the new catamaran, *Sharon Anne*.

Cummins supplied six-cylinder QSL9 marine engines, each delivering 290 hp at 1800 RPM, paired with ZF gearboxes and Hyperform propellers to power the twin hulls. The result was an 11.95-meter catamaran with an 8.5-knot cruising speed and ample hydraulic power for trawl winches, net drums, and deck equipment, giving the vessel strong fishing performance and highly practical operation for trawl and creel work.
