Frimley Park Hospital NHS Trust - Customer Case Study

Frimley Park Hospital NHS Trust, a 700-bed NHS foundation trust in Surrey, England, needed a way to reduce rising energy costs and lower its carbon emissions while supporting its green agenda. Working with Cummins, the hospital sought a combined heat and power (CHP) solution to improve efficiency and meet strict environmental goals.

Cummins installed a 1,370 kW QSV81G containerised lean-burn gas engine generator set with switchboard PLC control panel as part of a tri-generation CHP plant, along with heat recovery for the hospital’s heating and absorption chilling needs. The project is expected to save about £150,000 per year in electricity costs and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 2,000 tons annually, while also providing long-term financial and environmental benefits.
