Dongara Marine - Customer Case Study

Dongara Marine, an Australian ferry builder, needed reliable propulsion for a new 148-seat catamaran ferry designed for short, protected-water passenger service in Western Australia. To meet the vessel’s performance and handling requirements, the company chose Cummins main engines for the project.

Cummins supplied a pair of 184 kW QSB6.7 engines for the MV Tricia, paired with Twin Disc gears and fixed-pitch Veem propellers. The ferry achieved its 16-knot design speed on sea trials and, with electric bow thrusters, gained the maneuverability needed for single-operator docking, helping deliver a practical and efficient transport solution for the route.
