Delta Dental of Michigan, one of the largest dental plan administrators in the U.S., needed a highly reliable standby power solution for a new state-of-the-art data center in Okemos, Michigan. To support its growing server environment and ensure uninterrupted operations, the company partnered with Cummins and its Power Generation standby diesel generator systems.

Cummins Power Generation supplied three 1000 kW diesel generator sets with a PowerCommand paralleling system and dual DMC 200 Digital Master Controls, creating an N+1 redundant design with automatic failover between paralleling switchgear systems. The result was a resilient data center power architecture that supports maintenance without downtime and helped Delta Dental of Michigan earn a Tier 3 Uptime Institute design rating.
