Dann Marine’s Sea Coast Repowers With Tier 3 Engines

Dann Marine Towing, a five-generation marine business operating a fleet of 17 tugs from Chesapeake City, Maryland, needed to maintain and upgrade its vessels to keep them in top operating condition. As part of that effort, the company repowered its tug Gulf Coast and worked with Cummins to replace a pair of competitor 1200 HP engines with more powerful marine engines.

Cummins supplied a pair of 1600 HP QSK50 engines for the Gulf Coast, along with the repower support needed for foundation and cooling system modifications at Lyon Shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia. The tug has since returned to service with increased power, supporting Dann Marine Towing’s fleet readiness and long-term investment in performance and reliability.
