A Cummins Case Study
Equipment Technologies, the manufacturer of Apache sprayers, needed reliable, simple, and efficient power for its tough self-propelled machines. To meet the demands of both smaller farms and large-scale operations, the company required engines that delivered strong performance, a comfortable “tractor feel,” good fuel economy, and low maintenance across its sprayer range. Cummins supplied the engine power for the Apache lineup, including the QSB4.5 Tier 4 Final engine in the AS640 and 6.7-liter engines in the larger 40 Series models.
Cummins worked closely with Equipment Technologies to integrate Tier 4 Final engines optimized for the full sprayer range. The solution combined HPCR fuel systems, cooled EGR, DOC, and SCR technology to deliver ultra-low emissions, strong horsepower, and improved efficiency. The result was a compact, agile sprayer platform with up to 300 horsepower in the larger models and 5-20% better fuel efficiency than the Apache 20 Series, helping Apache customers reduce fuel use while maintaining reliable field performance.
