Cummins powers GUSS - the world's first autonomous orchard sprayer

Crinklaw Farm Services Inc. needed a long-term power solution for its Global Unmanned Spray System (GUSS), an autonomous orchard sprayer designed to help address labor shortages and improve efficiency, precision, and safety in agriculture. To support this, the company worked with Cummins on the machine’s engine integration and powertrain requirements.

Cummins provided the QSB6.7 engine, a fully integrated 173 hp (129 kW) package with cooled EGR and High Pressure Common Rail fuel system, to power GUSS. The result was the world’s first and only autonomous orchard sprayer, with one employee able to remotely monitor up to 10 sprayers at once, and seven Cummins-powered GUSS units already built for custom spray applications across mid- to large-scale tree farms.
