Cummins Power Generation stands tall on Paris skyscraper

Tour Evasion 2000, a Paris residential skyscraper, needed a highly reliable emergency power solution during a renovation to support critical electrical systems, including the building’s water superchargers in the event of fire. The challenge for Cummins was installing a standby generator set on the 32nd floor, 93 metres above street level, with strict size and weight constraints.

Cummins supplied a custom-built C500 D5 generator set powered by a QSX15 engine with PowerCommand® 2100 controls, designed to fit the installation opening exactly. Cummins France executed a carefully planned rooftop lift using a 110m, 300-ton crane, with the alternator disassembled and reassembled onsite to meet weight restrictions. The result was a reliable 24/7 backup power system providing emergency power for the building’s critical services for years to come.
