Cummins Power Generation meets Zain’s diverse needs

Zain Group, a fast-growing mobile telecoms operator with headquarters in Kuwait and operations across the Middle East, needed reliable power for two very different requirements: standby power for its headquarters building and prime power for trailer-mounted mobile base stations in remote and harsh locations. The challenge was to support around 300 sites with dependable generator power despite extreme heat, dust, restricted access, and the need to avoid service interruptions. Cummins provided a C1100 DB5 generator set with a KTA38 engine and transfer switching for the HQ, alongside smaller 30–50 kVA units for mobile telecom sites.

Cummins and its distributor GTE delivered a turnkey power solution that included installation, containerized sound attenuation, and strong after-sales support. The result was a dependable standby system for Zain’s headquarters and continuous prime power for base stations operating 12 hours a day, seven days a week. The solution also helped Zain expand its generator fleet to more than 500 generator sets across roughly 300 installations, reinforcing service continuity across its network.
