Case Study: La Plata Thermoelectric Center achieves reliable continuous power with Cummins Power Generation

A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the La Plata Thermoelectric Center Case Study

Cummins Power Generation is supplying even more energy with La Plata Thermoelectric Center

La Plata Thermoelectric Center in Argentina needed to expand electricity capacity quickly as rising industrialization and consumer demand pushed the country’s power needs beyond existing supply. Cummins Power Generation, working with local distributor Sullair Argentina, supplied a continuous power solution to help address low-voltage and peak-demand issues affecting the grid.

Cummins Power Generation implemented a diesel plant with 64 generator sets—54 model 880 DFHD units and 10 model 1650 DQKC units—operating in parallel with the public grid and managed by Cummins PowerCommand™ controls. The center now provides reliable energy through four plants capable of producing 10 MW each, improving power stability for the region while also meeting residential noise limits through an acoustically designed building.
