A Cummins Case Study
The Museum of Human Evolution in Burgos, Spain, needed a reliable and highly efficient energy system for its 47,000 m² complex of museum, research, and congress facilities. To maintain strict temperature and humidity control, ensure uninterrupted power, and support heating and cooling needs, the museum worked with Cummins on a trigeneration solution using natural gas generator sets and related power equipment.
Cummins implemented two C1160 N5C natural gas generator sets with digital master control, low-voltage power breakers, and plant accessories to provide combined cooling, heat, and power. The system generates about 2.3 MW of electricity, 2,900 kW of heat, and around 1,060 kW of cooling, improving energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions, and lowering operating costs through grid export and standby power capability.
