Cummins Performance Series Enables Engine Downsizing for Bandit Industries Whole Tree Chipper

Bandit Industries needed a more compact, powerful engine for its new Intimidator® 20XP track whole tree chipper, which was designed to deliver whole-tree chipping capability in a smaller, easier-to-tow package. The company wanted to downsize from a 9-litre engine without sacrificing performance or machine capability, while also meeting strict emissions requirements for export markets.

Cummins supplied its B6.7 Performance Series engine in a Cummins power unit package, including integrated aftertreatment, cooling pack, air cleaner, engine skid, and exhaust configuration tailored for forestry applications. The solution delivered over 30% more torque and 5% more power than the predecessor engine, while the EGR-free, dual-certified system met EU Stage V and EPA Tier 4 Final standards in a space-saving package that was up to 40% smaller and 20% lighter than Cummins’ previous aftertreatment system.
