A Cummins Case Study
The Complejo Hospitalario de Navarra in Pamplona, northern Spain, was expanding its hospital facilities with a major modernisation programme and needed reliable standby power to support critical areas such as operating theatres, intensive care, recovery, and laboratories. Cummins was selected to provide a standby power solution for the site, including a 1,800 kW C2250 D5 generator set powered by a QSK50 G4 engine.
Cummins supplied the first of three planned generator sets, installed in a 40-foot PowerBox and managed by a PowerCommand Paralleling 3201 control system. The solution will provide backup power for the entire hospital in the event of a grid failure, with two more Cummins generator sets due to be added as the expansion progresses, bringing the total grid supply requirement of the site to 6,700 kW.
