Case Study: Leading Cotton Seed Distributor boosts irrigation efficiency with Cummins engines

A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the Leading Cotton Seed Distributor Case Study

Cummins helps build the Australian cotton industry

Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD), a leading Australian cotton seed distributor, needed reliable, fuel-efficient pumping power for its CSD Farms to support irrigation, seed multiplication, and research operations as the cotton industry expanded. Working with Cummins, the company sought engine solutions that could meet demanding farm conditions while helping manage operating costs and long-term production needs.

Cummins supplied fifteen self-contained engine power units, including electronic Tier 3 QSB3.3 and QSB4.5 models, to run pumping duties across the farms. The newer engines delivered better fuel efficiency than older mechanical units, with one QSB4.5 pumping 20 megalitres a day while using only 10 litres of fuel per hour, and operating efficiently at lower rpm. Cummins also provided the reliability, serviceability, and parts support CSD needed, with older engines exceeding 10,000 hours of operation and minimal maintenance beyond routine servicing.
