Cummins Gen Sets for Crane Barge

Franklin Offshore International, a global offshore service provider headquartered in Singapore, needed reliable main power generation for a newly built 240-man accommodation and work barge under construction at Jiangsu Jiaolong Heavy Industry Group. The vessel was being developed for offshore operations in Southeast Asia and required dependable marine power equipment, including generator sets and emergency backup capability.

Cummins supplied the solution by fitting the barge with six Cummins Power Set Model K38-CP765DM/5 generator sets, each rated at 832 kWe, plus an emergency Cummins KTA19-D(M1) generator rated at 360 kWe. The 120 by 33.2-meter ABS-class barge, also equipped with a 520-tonne pedestal crane, was scheduled to be ready for service in February 2011, giving Franklin Offshore International a fully powered accommodation and work platform for offshore deployment.
