Cummins 95-Liter Engines for SEACOR Catamaran

SEACOR Holdings Inc., a Louisiana-based marine transportation company, needed more horsepower, speed, and reliability for its latest CrewZer Class-DP2 catamarans, the Seacor Puma and Seacor Panther. To support its mission of moving time-sensitive cargo and passengers faster and more comfortably than traditional crew boats, SEACOR turned to Cummins for marine propulsion and auxiliary power.

Cummins supplied four QSK95 marine engines rated at 4,000 hp each, paired with Twin Disc transmissions and Hamilton Jet waterjets, along with QSM11-powered generator sets for auxiliary and deck power. The result was two high-speed catamarans capable of up to 40 knots, with improved seakeeping, redundant systems, 200 tons of freight capacity, and first-class passenger accommodations for up to 138 people, while also supporting medical evacuation when needed.
