Cosmote Telecommunications S.A. - Customer Case Study

Cosmote Telecommunications S.A., one of Greece’s leading telecom providers, needed a reliable emergency standby power solution for its newest and largest Athens data center. The challenge was to protect critical hardware servers, network equipment, UPS systems, and chiller cooling with automatic backup power and no interruption during a grid failure. Cummins was selected through distributor Ergotrak, with a solution built around two C1675 D5A generator sets powered by Cummins KTA50GS8 engines.

Cummins delivered a fully integrated standby power system that included the generator sets, exhaust silencers, piping, fans, air ducts, and soundproofing. Ergotrak managed installation, commissioning, and start-up, and the setup was designed so the generators could back each other up in case of failure. The project met Cosmote’s requirements and achieved a low external noise level of 60 dB(A) at 1m, providing dependable critical protection for the data center.
