Cook Islands - Customer Case Study

Aitutaki in the Cook Islands needed a highly reliable prime power solution as tourism and business growth increased electricity demand, and its ageing 1960s-era power station had failed. Cummins Power Generation was selected to deliver a modern, fully integrated diesel power system, including generator sets and control equipment.

Cummins Power Generation implemented three C900 D5 generator sets with DMC200 digital master control, paralleling switchgear, and associated fuel, exhaust, and radiator systems. The station was fully assembled and tested in Brisbane before shipment, reducing on-site construction time and giving the customer confidence in performance; the new setup also provided automatic operation, load management, and redundancy, with two generators meeting peak load and the third available as backup.
