Combination Boat Joins Oregon Fleet

Crescere Marine Engineering, Inc. designed the **Patriot**, a new combination fishing vessel for Mike Pettis’s Oregon fleet, to handle crab, shrimp, and trawl operations in challenging West Coast waters. The challenge was to create a versatile, efficient boat that could support multiple fisheries while meeting stability requirements and maximizing time at sea.

**Cummins** supplied the marine propulsion package, including a Tier 2 compliant 600 hp **QSK19-M** main engine, auxiliaries for hydraulics and generation, and a hotel set. The solution powered the 67-by-25-foot vessel with strong towing capability, improved fuel efficiency, and the ability to carry large catches, including 65,000 pounds of live crab in the front hold, 20–25,000 pounds in the rear hold, and about 50 tons of shrimp, with delivery planned for early spring 2013.
