Nebraska Public Power District in Columbus, Nebraska, needed a fast temporary solution to handle record summer electricity demand after a severe heat wave and drought. To prepare for similar conditions in 2013, the utility turned to Cummins for rental power, requiring 20 mobile 2 MW generators across five sites with a very tight turnaround.

Cummins and Cummins Central Power delivered and installed the rental power system, along with transformers, cabling, site stabilization, and technical support, all on schedule. The units were operational by the deadline and provided 40 MW of rental power, helping NPPD reliably serve customers and support irrigation needs throughout the summer.
