Chaophraya River Line Company - Customer Case Study

Chaophraya River Line Company operates tourist boats on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, carrying visitors past major attractions such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. Its challenge was to offer a more comfortable, scenic alternative to crowded commuter express boats, while still providing reliable performance and enough capacity for tourists.

Cummins supplied a twin-engine propulsion package for the new CTB 1 and CTB 2 vessels, using two Cummins NTA855 diesel engines rated at 350 HP each, paired with ZF 3208 gears with 2:1 reduction. The result was a pair of wider, 29.6-meter tourist boats with top-deck seating, a top-mounted wheelhouse, 96-passenger capacity, and a cruising speed of 12 knots, improving the river experience for first-time visitors and leisure travelers.
