Chaophraya River Line Company - Customer Case Study

Chaophraya River Line Company, a new passenger boat operator on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, needed safe, reliable, and efficient vessels to expand commuter and shuttle service. To meet those needs, the company worked with Cummins and Sakun C to equip its ferries and tourist boats with marine diesel power, including Cummins NT855 engines and a Cummins QSB6.7 diesel inboard.

Cummins helped power custom-built catamarans and a modified mono-hull designed for river operations, supporting smooth, professional service with strong performance and fuel-efficient propulsion. The catamarans each use twin 400 HP Cummins NT855 engines, delivering 12-knot cruising speed and 21-knot maximum speed, while the mono-hull uses a 245 HP Cummins QSB6.7 for 15-knot service. By early April 2019, three catamarans were already in operation and another was under construction.
