Centenary College of Louisiana - Customer Case Study

Centenary College of Louisiana needed a more reliable way to keep key campus facilities running during severe weather-related outages. After Hurricane Irene and a historic snowstorm caused widespread disruption in New Jersey, the college looked for emergency backup power for its campus shelter areas and communications systems. Cummins, working through dealer SREC Resources, provided the power-generation equipment and transfer-switch solution.

Cummins and SREC Resources installed a 250 kW DQDAA generator set for the gym and library and a 60 kW DSFAD generator set with a Cummins OTPC 225 A transfer switch for the IT center, phones, and radio systems. The solution went in smoothly and gave the college peace of mind that emergency shelter and communications would stay operational during prolonged outages. The project also strengthened Centenary College’s resilience and opened the door to future demand-response and campus-wide backup power opportunities.
