A Cummins Case Study
C & G Boat Works Inc., a Mobile, Alabama shipbuilder, needed to keep pace with the growing size and sophistication of Gulf of Mexico crewboats while meeting charterers’ increasing demands for performance, redundancy, and emissions compliance. Working with Cummins, the yard equipped its new vessels with high-power marine engines, including KTA50-M and QSK50-M models.
Cummins helped C & G Boat Works Inc. deliver advanced crewboats such as the 185-foot Gulf Princess and the sister ship Sybil Graham, which gained DP1 and DP2 capabilities respectively. The Cummins QSK50-M engines provided electronically controlled, EPA Tier 2-compliant power with improved efficiency, diagnostics, and engine protection, resulting in greater operational capability, reliability, and positioning performance for Gulf of Mexico service.
