A Cummins Case Study
Inace Shipyard, a Brazilian builder of aluminum vessels, needed reliable, high-performance propulsion and power systems for the first of four innovative Guido Perla-designed fast supply vessels (FSVs), the GPA FSV *Siem-Caetés*. Working with Cummins, the shipyard outfitted the vessel with marine engines and generators to support its demanding offshore cargo and crew-transport mission.
Cummins supplied four KTA50-M2 main engines rated at 1,800 HP each, along with Cummins 6B-powered generators, integrated with Twin Disc gears and WEG generators for the vessel’s power and maneuvering needs. The resulting 50-meter FSV achieved a 25-knot maximum speed, 21-knot service speed, 250 metric tons of deck cargo capacity, and DP-1 capability, helping Inace deliver a fast, powerful, and highly capable offshore supply vessel.
