Blessey Adds a New Generation Pushboat

New Generation Shipbuilding, a Louisiana yard building workboats and towboats, wanted to outfit its new 72-by-30-foot pushboat, MV Gunner, with reliable propulsion and onboard systems for demanding inland waterway service. To meet that need, the yard selected Cummins engines and generators for the vessel’s power package.

Cummins supplied two grid-cooled KTA38-M main engines, each rated at 1000 HP at 1800 RPM, along with two Cummins-powered 85 kW generator sets. The result was a spacious, well-appointed pushboat with strong performance, modern accommodations, and a layout that impressed the customer and is already attracting follow-on orders for the same design.
