Baru Offshore Navegação Ltda, a joint venture between Intertug and Senior Navegacao, needed propulsion and auxiliary power for 12 large Fast Supply Vessels being built for Petrobras operations in Brazil. The project called for reliable marine engines and generators to support demanding offshore transport requirements.

Cummins supplied the solution with four QSK50-M IMO Tier II compliant marine engines per vessel, plus two QSM11-CP powered 300 kW generators for electrical power. The result was a fleet designed to meet UR4000 FSV specifications, achieve a 21-knot service speed and 25-knot maximum speed, and be supported locally by Cummins in Brazil.
