B & J Martin, Inc needed a powerful site-clearance vessel to trawl decommissioned oil rig sites for scrap metal, old tires, and other debris until the area was clean enough for normal Gulf shrimping gear. Cummins provided the marine power package for the new vessel, which was designed by Joseph Rodriguez and built by Rodriguez Boat Builders.

Cummins supplied a pair of K38-M EPA Tier 2 certified engines, each rated at 850 hp at 1800 RPM, driving Twin Disc MGX-5321 gears to power the vessel’s heavy trawling work. The solution enabled the boat to tow two 80-foot Gorilla Nets capable of recovering up to six tons of waste each, supported by large fuel, water, and lube oil capacity for extended cleanup operations.
