A Cummins Case Study
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Melbourne needed reliable standby emergency power for its new TV and radio studio complex, which combines multiple studios, editing rooms, and archives in a multi-floor broadcast facility. To protect critical operations during grid disturbances or outages, ABC turned to Cummins for a standby power solution, including a 2250 kVA generator set with a 60-litre QSK60 diesel engine and Digital Master Controller.
Cummins supplied and integrated the generator set with ABC’s Building Management System, helping streamline implementation and commissioning while ensuring failsafe performance. The installation also met stringent noise and vibration requirements through special mounting, acoustic, and exhaust-control measures, enabling quiet operation near residential areas. The result was a well-performing backup power system that keeps ABC’s building management team informed around the clock and supports uninterrupted broadcast operations.
