Arup Associates, working on the 20-storey Ropemaker development in London, needed a reliable standby power system to support a 586,000 sq ft mixed-use building with residential, office and retail space, including two large trading floors. Their challenge was ensuring uninterrupted power across six separate LV switchboards with independent incoming supplies, while also meeting strict noise and spatial constraints.

Cummins supplied four C2500 D5A generator sets powered by QSK60 G8 engines with DMC200 digital master control, creating an 8MW standby power solution tailored to the building’s control philosophy. Cummins also helped with early-stage layout planning and switchboard isolation requirements, delivering a proven, low-noise system below 63 dB(A) that supports resilient operation across the development.
