Aries Marine needed a reliable, efficient power and propulsion setup for its green-design diesel-electric platform supply vessel, the Betty Pfankuch, to support demanding DP2 offshore work, high cargo capacity, and quiet operation. The vessel was launched from Eastern Shipbuilding and put to work in charter service in Mexico, where performance over time would be the real test.

Cummins supplied four QSK60 DM generator engines, along with the Eliminator centrifuge oil system, to power the vessel’s diesel-electric arrangement. The result was a clean, dependable engine room and strong operational performance: the Betty Pfankuch completed its Mexico charter without losing a single charter day, while the flexibility of the Cummins-powered system helped free up hull space for cargo and support reliable electric-powered pumps and thrusters.
