Case Study: Cvitanovic Towing achieves greater fleet efficiency with Cummins engines

A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the Cvitanovic Towing, LLC. Case Study

An Efficent Addition to a Strong Fleet

Cvitanovic Towing, LLC, a Belle Chasse, Louisiana tug operator serving Plaquemines Parish and coastal Louisiana, needed to expand and modernize its fleet with an efficient vessel suited for shallow-draft work in the Mississippi River delta. Cummins provided the propulsion power for the company’s new Andrew C tug, helping the customer add capacity while maintaining the efficiency and reliability their operation requires.

To meet the vessel’s size and performance needs, Cummins supplied a pair of 355 HP QSM11-M main engines, delivering a combined 710 HP for the Andrew C. The engines drive Kahlenberg propellers through ZF gears, supporting the tug’s 5.5-foot shallow draft and cargo-transfer capabilities; as a result, Cvitanovic Towing expanded fleet efficiency and operational reach with its fourth vessel.
