Case Study: AMMPS Military Generator Service Provider achieves greater fuel efficiency and reliability with Cummins AMMPS generators

A Cummins Case Study

Preview of the AMMPS Military Generator Service Provider Case Study

AMMPS military generators from Cummins prove their performance and value with U.S. Army

AMMPS Military Generator Service Provider, working with Cummins, needed a new family of 5–60 kW mobile military generators to replace older Tactical Quiet Generator and MIL-STD units. The Army’s challenge was to improve power generation capability while also increasing fuel efficiency, reliability, survivability, and reducing size, weight, and total cost of ownership.

Cummins developed the Advanced Medium Mobile Power Sources (AMMPS) generator line from the ground up for military use and won the competitive selection process through prototype and pre-production testing. The result was a generator family that is 10% smaller and lighter, 21% more fuel-efficient, and 50% more reliable than its predecessor, with 52% parts commonality and operation on diesel or JP-8 fuel, helping reduce fuel convoys and support costs.
