A Cummins Case Study
Alubar Cabos, part of the Alubar Group in Barcarena, Brazil, needed a more reliable and affordable power solution to support its aluminum cable operations. The company faced two major challenges: an unreliable local utility supply and high electricity costs during peak demand. Cummins provided the power generation equipment used in the case study, including C400 D6 generator sets with PowerCommand PCC3100 digital master controls.
Cummins implemented a system of six generator sets for standby and peak-shaving power, allowing Alubar Cabos to maintain production during outages and reduce dependence on expensive utility power during peak hours. The units operate in parallel and are supported by local distributor DCML Norte. As a result, Alubar reported about a 30% reduction in electricity costs while also improving power availability and operational reliability.
