A.K. Suda Ltd - Customer Case Study

A.K. Suda Ltd., a naval architecture and marine engineering firm, needed a reliable power package for its SUDA 300-L3 liftboat design, a true liftboat built to support oil industry production platforms. The vessel required propulsion and onboard power systems that could support jacking operations, cranes, accommodation services, and safe positioning while working in heavy offshore conditions.

Cummins supplied the marine power solution, including a pair of EPA Tier 2 Cummins KTA38-M engines rated at 850 HP each for propulsion and two Cummins-powered 625-kWe generators for hydraulic jacking, cranes, and ship services. The liftboat also uses additional generators for primary, backup, and emergency power, helping deliver a highly stable, efficient work platform with the highest leg extension-to-total-leg-length ratio of its type and scheduled delivery in mid-2012.
