Agricultural Waste Facility Operates Reliably 24/7 With Cogeneration Solution

Troil Vegas Altas S Coop, an olive oil sludge treatment plant in Valdetorres, Badajoz, Spain, needed a reliable way to support the expansion of its agricultural waste management operations while maintaining 24/7 uptime. The facility processes olive oil mill by-products and was looking for a cogeneration-based power solution that could meet demanding operational, emissions, and noise requirements. Cummins provided a lean burn gas generator set and PowerCommand® controller for the expansion.

Cummins installed a QSK60G lean burn gas generator set delivering 1540 kW of continuous power, integrated with a PowerCommand® PC3.3 controller, to work alongside the site’s existing gas generators in a cogeneration application. The solution uses exhaust heat to dry pomace and evaporate vegetal water, improving efficiency and enabling excess electricity to be exported to the national grid. As a result, Troil Vegas Altas S Coop gained significant fuel and cost savings, stronger reliability, and confidence to operate another 60,000-hour cycle.
