Land Rover Discovery, working with Cummins, needed a reliable modern powertrain for a 1999 Discovery 1 build while preserving the vehicle’s off-road capability and classic Land Rover character. The project, completed by Heritage Driven, centered on fitting a Cummins R2.8L Turbo Diesel engine into the SUV along with supporting drivetrain components.

Cummins helped deliver a repower solution built around the R2.8L Turbo Diesel, paired with a GM 6L80e 6-speed automatic, custom mounts, adapter kits, a revised cooling system, and other supporting upgrades. The result was a 1999 Land Rover Discovery 1 repowered into a 5,100-lb vehicle with a more modern, diesel-powered drivetrain suited for trail and daily use.
