1.6 MW power solution for telecom company’s Baghdad data centre

Asiacell, a leading telecommunications company in Iraq, needed a reliable prime power solution for its new Al-Masbah data centre in Baghdad. The site required continuous electricity support for critical operations, and the company turned to Cummins for a system that could perform in challenging conditions and meet the needs of a 2 MW total power requirement.

Cummins and its distributor MICTA designed and installed a 1.6 MW power station using four C550 D5e enclosed generator sets with QSX15 engines in parallel configuration, along with LV switchgear, DMC1000 control, ATS, fuel systems, cables, and SCADA. The solution operates automatically and supports Asiacell’s data centre with dependable prime power, helping ensure reliable service for more than 8 million subscribers.
