Bunge’s Council Bluffs, IA oilseed processing plant — the largest soybean processor in the U.S. — handles about 60 million bushels a year and roughly 70,000 truck and 17,000 railcar movements annually. Managing that volume of inbound soybeans and outbound oil, meal and hulls created a complex logistics and weighing challenge for shipping, receiving and quality control.

Bunge implemented John Deere Agri Services’ oneWeigh scale automation system to automate vehicle identification, weighments, RF tag reads, lab sample data and daily uploads to accounting. The system streamlined inbound/outbound truck and rail workflows, ensured process-control data (moisture, oil, protein, seals) is captured before release, improved record accuracy and throughput, and enabled faster settlements — in many cases allowing next-day payment processing.
