US Media Company Rapidly Achieves Data Protection Goals with CTERA

Journal Register Company, a multimedia publisher serving 992 communities and 21 million readers monthly, faced an increasingly fragmented IT environment as it expanded across the northeastern U.S. Office sizes and server/storage types varied widely, and decentralized, inconsistent backup practices made monitoring, disaster protection and reliable recovery difficult—especially at locations with limited on-site IT support.

The company deployed CTERA’s hybrid cloud storage and appliance lineup (C200/C400) to replace tape and aging backup systems, building a Yardley private cloud with CTERA Portal and 20+ TB of replicated data. Within six months CTERA appliances and centralized remote monitoring were running across 15 sites, delivering redundancy, reduced WAN impact via deduplication, easier restores (including bare‑metal recovery), fewer on-site IT visits and lower overall costs.
