Defense Information Systems Agency - Customer Case Study

The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) modernized DoD IT to deliver scalable, secure, and standardized cloud services while reducing operational cost and improving agility for mission partners. DISA’s challenge was to migrate from legacy, non‑standard hosting and fragmented procurement models to a utility‑style, rapidly provisioned service that met stringent DoD security and compliance requirements and provided 24x7 support.

DISA delivered milCloud 1.0 (a government‑managed on‑premise private cloud) and is transitioning to milCloud 2.0 (commercial on‑premise IaaS) with a phased rollout, alongside the Cloud Access Point evolving into a Secure Cloud Computing Architecture. By standardizing hosting and capacity services, increasing automation and orchestration, and enabling secure commercial cloud access, DISA shortened delivery times, lowered operating costs, improved security posture, and increased mission partner agility (Phase I operational for unclassified environments; Phase II to add classified, multi‑site redundancy).
