Nova Scotia faced fragmented, paper-heavy licensing, registration and collections processes across 54 community offices and multiple government departments, with business and licence data trapped in eight siloed databases. To streamline citizen and business services and improve turnaround times, the province turned to CSDC Inc’s AMANDA business process automation software to provide a single, integrated platform for registrations, permits, audits and collections.

CSDC Inc implemented AMANDA as the Nova Scotia Business Registry (NSBR) backbone, consolidating data, interfacing with CRA and WCB, and enabling online Business Number issuance and unified licence processing for about 60,000 businesses. The system automated collections and audits, supported SAP and GIS integration, issued over 60 licence types, helped reimburse millions in provincial business taxes and contributed to collecting more than $450 million in outstanding debt — all supporting the province’s Better Regulations Initiative (targeting a 20% administrative burden reduction).
