The City of Saint Paul’s 27‑member fire prevention group was struggling to manage 19,000 annual fire inspections and the paperwork burden that came with their legacy system—inspectors had to return to the office for schedules and printouts, record notes on carbon copies, and faced delayed re‑inspections and lost revenue. To modernize inspection workflows and data management, the City engaged CSDC Inc to implement its AMANDA business automation system (with Panasonic Toughbooks chosen as the field devices).

CSDC Inc deployed AMANDA to the field, enabling inspectors to view to‑do lists, schedule and generate appointment letters, permits, certificates and compliance notices from templates, lookup 600 fire prevention codes, collect data offline on Toughbooks and upload to a central AMANDA database, and produce rule‑based invoices immediately after inspections. The result: faster processing of certificates and letters, improved billing consistency and revenue collection, and the ability to complete all required inspections with fewer staff—while the City continues to self‑configure AMANDA and pursue further automation.
